John Must Die | It's a cool game idk
From a gamejam, check it out here: https://yollie.itch.io/john-must-die
I watched someone else play this so I already know the elemental counters.
- Fire beats ice beats lightning beats magic beats fire.
- Enemies can have multi-layered shields, and an inherent elemental affinity. For example, an ememy with a lightning shield on top of a fire shield, and inherent magic affinity will be best defeated using Ice first, then Magic, then Electricity.
There are three enemy archetypes in the game: katana dogs, generic humans, and turrets. Humans shoot at you. Turrets shoot at you, but also don't have legs. Every enemy has a "big" variant with more health and stronger attacks.
There's some kind of mechanic where using a particular element sometimes causes a secondary effect? I don't know what the actual trigger is, but I think if you kill an enemy with Fire, it has a chance of creating an explosion. Ice has a chance of generating a slowing field. Electricity generates lightning which arcs between nearby enemies. Magic creates gems that you can collect to temporarily boost speed and health. There are also 'large' variants of each of these secondary effects, possibly triggered by killing big enemies.
The last enemy in the game is a Katana Dog with all of the elemental shields, whom I have named God Dog.
