Limbus Company | Refraction Railway 3 | Base Sinners and Base EGO | Ardor Blossom Moth
I am eternally ashamed to be a Limbus Company fan.
Audio warning: Due to a flub with the video processing, the music continually gets louder and louder towards the end.
Limbus Company is a Korean gacha game made by Project Moon, the creators behind games you may have heard of like Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina.
Combat in this game is heavily probability based. Your characters, known as Sinners, have Health and Sanity to watch out for. If their Health runs out, they die. However, if their HP also drops below certain thresholds, they will become staggered and become unable to act for a turn, while also becoming fatally vulnerable to all attacks. Sanity governs how likely they are to roll heads or tails on "coins". Generally, a heads roll increases the power of an attack; if the sinner has higher power on their attack than the enemy, they win the "clash" and one of the enemy's coins is destroyed. This system also works in reverse. When a side of a clash has no more coins, the attack goes through and deals damage, once again depending on how many coins roll heads, and how many coins are left.
The primary mechanics in this game are managing Sanity to keep your sinners rolling high (at 45 sanity, the cap, you have a 95% chance to roll heads on any given coin; at 0 sanity, you have a 50% chance, and at -45 sanity, you have a 5% chance). You also need to redirect attacks to ensure that your most fragile sinners are not staggered, while also keeping track of boss-specific mechanics such as specific body parts having powerful attacks that must be weakened before you attempt to clash them, or having alternating aggressive and passive states that are affected by their environment, buffs, debuffs, and the presence or lack of other enemies.
Refraction Railways are the hardest content in the game; endgame gauntlets of enemies that you are expected to take on with your strongest characters and EGO, which are powerful attacks that cost sanity and EGO resources to cast. EGO resources are generated by any attack your sinners make.
Basically, the premise of this challenge is to use the weakest, least upgraded units in the game, alongside the weakest and least upgraded EGO to beat the hardest content in the game. Ardor Blossom Moth is specifically station 6/10 on Refraction Railway 3, meaning that before this, I had to beat five other bosses; you can see that one of my sinners (Yi Sang) is already dead when I send my second wave of units in because of the two fights preceding this one. I also edited out the various failed attempts to win with my second wave of sinners.
