- Jungler (Emerson Arcadia 2001 Version) - Solo Snake Mode Longplay - Level: 1 (easiest) -
This version of the classic arcade game, released by Konami in 1981, is the Arcadia 2001 port. It presents a snake-like challenge where you control a multi-segmented creature (perhaps a dragon? What's your guess?) maneuvering through an intricate maze.
Your objective? Vanquish other creatures similar to your character before they turn the tables on you. Progression to the next maze hinges on defeating all your adversaries, each level ramping up the challenge.
The key tactic for success lies in attacking from behind. Hitting or shooting from the front only works if your creature is longer than your opponents; otherwise, it leaves you vulnerable to their attacks if shorter. Attacks have no effect if both creatures share the same length.
Unlike its arcade counterpart, this port offers four distinct difficulty levels and two modes: solo - you only face one creature at a time - and duo - you face two. Starting with the easiest level to shake off the rust, I'll swiftly move to the last one.
However, in line with many games of that era, expect a challenging, almost punishing experience where victory means advancing through just a few stages.
Despite the vast differences from the original arcade version, Jungler on the Arcadia 2001 remains a title I appreciate. I take pride in devising winning strategies, especially when the competition heats up.
