Jurassic World Dominion Trailer Breakdown + Opening Scene Easter Eggs YOU MISSED & References
So, we just got the first five minutes of Jurassic World Dominion and it’s the closest thing we got to a full trailer, so stay with me, I’m going to be breaking down everything you missed including some easter eggs that link back to the original jurassic park movie.
First thing’s first, The pterodactyls are some of the dinosaurs that get a lot of screen time in these five minutes. If you don’t know, the pterodactyls were some of the main dinosaur antagonists in the OG third jurassic park movie- paying homage because like Jurassic Park 3, Dominion is the third movie of the sequel jurassic trilogy- and i wouldn’t be surprised if the movie has the pterodactyls be the main antagonists, because remember, Jurassic World 1 saw the raptors help take down the final dinosaur, like in Jurassic Park 1 - then jurassic world 2 sees the movie take the film from the island to land for the climax of the film, just like jurassic park 2 took the film from the island to the land for the climax - now enter jurassic world 3 where the pterodactyls could be part of the main antagonists, just like the original jurassic park 3
This part of the trailer is incredibly important, because it visually tells you the state of the world now that the dinosaurs and humans officially co-exist around the globe - check it out: All is well in the world, it’s mostly passive, when enter a threat, a predator to the natural order of things- you can see that one, with scales, is significantly stronger than the other which has nothing but the hairs on it’s back - visual way to say dinosaurs vs humans - and the control for dominion will always fall to the strongest which is the dinosaur with more armour, and strength - but, check this out, later in the trailer we see the humans, with more armour, strength, and weaponry, being the predator in this scenario even having the dinosaur running away from them - so the battle of dominion is being mirrored in both eras in this opening five minutes
Also, this mosquito on top of the dinosaur’s scales in the desert-like place, that comes from the first teaser we ever got for dominion, months ago, which depicts the same thing
Bringing it full circle with this easter egg, we see that the girls here opt to hide under the truck to hide from the dinosaur - which is exactly what Owen did in the first Jurassic World
You can see here with the US fish and wildlife service, that the logo is different from the actual US fish and wildlife service, it’s changed ever so slightly to likely make sure there were no copyright claims - I always love finding these kinds of small details
Now, you can see that the tranquilizer has seriously been upgraded, because remember from the first movie, the park’s tranquilizer gun this tiny little hunting rifle, but I think since the dinosaurs travelled from the island, every wildlife service and military has adapted their weapons to fend off dinosaurs - such as this massive gun, so you can already see the world finding ways to take back dominion
So, this is one of my favorite easter eggs from the trailer because it has a double meaning. Now, the movie theatre is playing the 70s classic American Graffiti, now American Graffiti was directed by George Lucas, and George Lucas was involved in Indiana Jones with producer Frank Marshall now Frank Marshall is the producer of Jurassic World Dominion and I can’t help but think he put in his friend George Lucas’ movie as a small nod to him - I like that.
The clawprint in the mud, is a shot that I think all jurassic films have done at this point, so here’s them just following suit with this iconic shot
