This is awful. The video, not the game.

Adapted from the Rave Racer game in the arcade.
The third Ridge Racer game that was made.

Rage Racer is a sequel that is meant to stand alone.
Plays much like the other games, only with a darker tone.
Even in the daylight these environments are kind of bland;
Just these lights, billboards, and the sky. But to understand,
Here's a stretch of road a night.
Here's the same one in the day.
Here's a girl in torn-up pants.
How much is she getting paid?

If someone else wants to join when they're in the racing mood,
This game's only one player so your friend is kind of screwed.

This is Grand Prix mode, where you must get first on every track.
It's monotonous, but it's much more fun than Time Attack.
First you have to choose a course. Four in all, three to start.
Every track though uses the same area and even parts.
Now you choose a car, Esperanza is the default ride.
Balanced overall but looks like the Corolla's Mr. Hyde.
Now we race, but just use the D-pad for your steering needs.
I tried using analog and my controller died on me.

You can change the team name and the tires, transmission, and paint.
And design a logo, though Photoshop this certainly aint.

Six classes to pass. Each more difficult than the last.
You can try to tune up your car, but that will only go so far.

Credits earned by winning races, or finishing third at least.
Let you upgrade current rides or go purchase a newer beast.
Some work well on certain tracks, like the Oval for the Lizard.
It is built for speed but handles like a drunken Eddie Izzard.
Tires can be changed as well, if you like to drift or grip,
But that doesn't seem to matter 'cause your car will always slip.
Crashes are unrealistic with the way you bounce around.
Getting hit from behind somehow made me slow down.

Before Gran Turismo this was an innovative game,
But now compared to other racers it all just looks the same.

The music, though, is worth going back.
That is, if you like electronica tracks.
