This is the replacement for "Start Menu".
Now would probably be a good time to give a brief primer on what Altertale is. JW!Altertale is an AU that reimagines the original Altertale AU and Undertale's world to give much more depth to the characters and locations than in the original, as well as be more thorough in the swaps. Sort of like an orthogonal counterpart to Moonster's Underswap, in a way.
JW!Altertale also fixes the issues with shipping that the original Altertale has. Undyne and Alphys are still romantic partners, while the boss monsters' relationship remains intact. Gaster is given a precise role much more fitting of his original nature while still being in Asriel's position.
I always found the Altertale set of swaps to be interesting, and am disappointed at how poorly they're executed in the original AU.
Swaps:
- The fallen human does not swap, but has a markedly different storyline, being sent to the void and reconnecting with the world once Frisk fell into the Underground.
- Skeletons with (goat-like) boss monsters, in general.
- More specifically, the Dreemurr family swaps with the skelebros and Gaster, with Gaster swapping with Asriel, both being "lost" members of the family. Note that Gaster doesn't use the EUC appearance but rather a combination of many of Gaster's community appearances, due to his nature.
- Undyne and Mettaton swap.
- Alphys and Napstablook swap.
- Snowdin swaps with Ruins/New Home.
- Waterfall swaps with Hotland.
