Kabuki: Quantum Fighter Playthrough - NES PAL Version
8The year is 2056 and the worlds nukes have been hijacked by a computer virus. You play as Colonel Scott O'Connor the only man that can save us all. Scott is digitised and sent into the computer world to destroy the virus from within. Inside the computer world Scott takes on the form of a Kabuki character who we find out was his great grandfather Danjuro!
Scott's main weapon oddly enough is his hair and can be used to great effect. He also gains access to a new special weapon on completing each stage. These weapons can be cycled through using the select button and some of them are very effective. But be warned using them drains Scott's chip energy so they should mainly be used in tight spots and boss fights.
The game has 5 main stages and 6 boss fights with each boss having very distinct patterns to learn in order to dispatch them with ease. The stages vary from pure side scrolling action to crazy vertical climbs. Initially the game seems very difficult to play. But once you start to notice the enemy patterns and timings the game becomes an absolute joy to play. The PAL had much slower music than any of the other releases but to be honest I think it suits the style of the game much better.
