Released in 1995 very at the very end of the Super Famicoms life. Rendering Ranger R2 is a side scrolling run n gun/shmup from the mind that brought us Turrican itself, Manfred Trenz. This game shows how skilled he was at his craft. The game has many easter eggs relating to to his previous games along the way. I noticed the Super Turrican 2 ship take a nose dive at the beginning of stage 2 and many in game and enemies and sprites that look lie they came straight from Turrican/Katakis.

Rendering Ranger can be insanely unforgiving on harder difficulties so be prepared for a big challenge in the games later stages. Power ups are lost when you lose a life making the enemies MUCH harder to dispatch until you power that specific weapon up again. Luckily the game lets you hold more than one weapon at a time so you can always switch to another after losing a life to remain powered up. The game does have a password system so you can go straight to the last level you were on. This is the only way I managed to get through the game on normal difficulty.
