Kaitou Sly Cooper 2 Let's Play - Prologue
6I made a short, low-resolution video about this game a while back. I've finally decided to make a Let's Play of the entire thing.
This is the Japanese re-release of Sly 2. Some things were changed:
- Voice acting. The lip movements still match the American voice actors.
- Circle and X are switched, but only in menus. "Jump and Press the Circle Button" still applies.
- Health tokens are now blue. The color red has an evil meaning in Japanese culture, so having a red-colored item that heals you might indicate devil worship or something. Blue is the correct color in this case.
- The font for numbers is slightly different.
- In some missions, the Binocucom chat would not start since the trigger was placed a few inches in front of you. This version fixed the position of the triggers. This does prevent some cutscene skips, however.
- Neyla no longer sounds menacing. They could have done a lot better.
- Certain lines have no Japanese translation. You can hear Bentley and Murray try to say "Okay, all clear" on multiple occasions.
- Is it just me, or does Murray keep calling himself "Captain Murray"? Perhaps "The Murray" breaks Japanese cultural values when used as s name.
Not related to this version, but doesn't the carpet that Murray thunder flops onto look like an impact mark? Clever.
