Karnov is an arcade platform game created by Data East that was released in 1987, followed by a port for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Players assume the role of the protagonist, Jinborov Karnovski, known as Karnov, a strongman from the Soviet Union's Central Asian republics.

Karnov made appearances in other games by the company, including Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja, where he serves as a boss in the first level. He also features in Karnov's Revenge, a 1994 Neo-Geo game known as Fighter's History Dynamite, although it is not a direct sequel to the original Karnov but rather to Fighter's History, a one-on-one fighting game in which Karnov appears as the final boss.

In Karnov, players guide the hero through nine distinct levels in search of the ultimate treasure. However, various formidable creatures stand in his way, such as sword-wielding monks, dinosaurs, djinn, fish-like creatures, gargoyles, tree monsters, and more.

Karnov possesses the ability to walk, jump, and shoot projectiles as he progresses through the levels. Collecting red orbs upgrades his firepower, allowing him to shoot three fireballs simultaneously. Each level concludes with one or more bosses that Karnov must defeat to obtain a piece of a treasure map. The final confrontation features a formidable boss known as "The Wizard," who guards the last piece of the map leading to the ultimate treasure.

Karnov offers challenging platforming gameplay, with players navigating through diverse levels filled with unique enemies and obstacles. By acquiring power-ups and defeating bosses, Karnov steadily progresses towards his goal.
