Kerbal Space Program - Ares: Voyage to Mars - RSS
A Mars mission which could have been. In 1985 a manned Mars expedition is launched atop a Saturn VB, an upgraded version of the Saturn V which launched astronauts to the Moon, with the addition of four solid rocket boosters. The crew join a propulsion stack, already assembled in orbit, and make use of a gravitational slingshot with a flyby of Venus.

Special thanks to the guys at nasaspaceflight.com who built awesome models and diagrams of the ships from the book and for figuring out the details of the mission, also Rseferino for his awesome video of the mission in Orbiter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrbvM5HuQRE
