Kerbal Space Program Career Mode Episode 17
0Finishing up my KSP 0.22 Career mode game. I want to finish the mission with the probes to Jool before moving on to 0.23
As a Mentioned before, I'm orbiting Jool the wrong way, as all the satellites orbit counter-clockwise while we are orbiting clockwise. This causes out encounters with the satallites to be at a much higher speed, making landings much harder, even with aero-braking as is the case with Laythe.
So in this episode, with small gravity assists and a small burn, we get sent on orbit with an apoapsis high above Jool, where our orbital speed is very low. This allows us to make a burn of just about 360m/s and reverse our orbital direction.
Then with the help of another gravity assist and another burn, we get an encounter with Pol.
The encounter with Pol is interesting as after Pol, we seem to also have an encounter with Laythe. So I decide to undock 1 of the 2 remaining probes, and Land it on Pol, and We'll attempt to that the other for 1 more landing attempt on Laythe (hopefully the reduced speed will allow up to properly land this time, although we did achieve orbit last time).
We are above to get science from high and low over Pol, and while the landing is a bit tricky, we are able to land and get science from the surface of Pol!
