Keroro RPG (ケロロRPG) - Dororo Solo #01 - Mountain Familiar
Next solo ruuuuuuuuuuuun
"Hey, this isn't Tales!" You are technically right, but this game was developed by 7th chord, the guys behind the wonderful Tales of Innocence R and Tales of Hearts R. And I daresay this game is better than your average Tales game.
This boss is really easy so let's get a couple of semantics out of the way. This game has a couple of features in its battle system to shape it to what it is.
There's CC, which allows me to cancel artes into other artes. This allows for long combos and the ability to use artes for more than just damage; for example, using Kuuga (クウガ) then cancelling into Souga (ソウガ) to do a hit-and-run sort of thing. This game does penalize you for spamming artes though; if you use the same arte in succession, the 2nd arte and onward will deal only half the full damage. So mix it up!
This game also has front and backsteps, which I don't use in this vid but inevitably will. While I can't cancel into these like in most CC games, they are invincible in the middle of them, not unlike Farah's Mirage.
There's also the BR gauge, or Blazing Rise. This fills up when I land hits or get hits, and it works similar to Over Limit in other games. Upon activation, I am unable to flinch and have unlimited CC. I can also use a Mystic Arte.
The pink gauge is for BT (not sure what it stands for), which lets me summon support characters. Not using those in this run though.
You'll notice that I'm massively overleveled; that's because in order for the later bosses to be feasible on this difficulty, I had to start a New Game+, which carries over absolutely everything, including levels. Most Tales games let you pick what you want to carry over; not this one. It'll be much more interesting later, trust me.
Let's talk a tad about the character I picked for this run, Dororo. He specializes in agility and wind damage, while lacking in defense and any way to recover health. He's got a lot of moves that allow him to move towards the opponent, such as Kuuga (クウガ), Souga (ソウガ), Tenchi (テンチ), and Hayate (ハヤテ), as well as a lot of aerial enabled moves. He definitely feels a lot like a ninja and he fits into the CC system perfectly. It's gonna be hard when I have to deal with bosses with Mystic Artes of their own... but that'll come when it comes. For now, a quick victory.
