So just like with my last run, I was unsatisfied with what I did for Julius so I'm once again redoing my Julius fights. After much consideration, I decided that it is not "necessary" to stunlock Julius at level 1 like most people do, it's just the only humane way to do the fight because of 3D's chip damage issue, but in theory there's really no reason you can't just fight him straight up, it will just take forever since you cant get spirit roars. So I figured I'd put in the effort to actually fight Julius at Level 1 for once instead. I'm certain that I'm not the first person to do this because with multiple cures (which i did use three cures, the fight is just too long to be worth trying to amp the difficulty up anymore by restricting healing) its not that hard, just time consuming. I'm not sure if you actually need the dropmenevers, I had a few attempts where he only had three bars left and I didnt use the dropmenevers at all and still had a the whole purple gauge left, so I actually think you do have just enough time to finish the fight without needing dropmenevers, but it's probably better to just run them anyways since it would suck mad ass to get dropped on his last health bar and even if you don't "need" the dropmenevers, it cuts pretty close.

Also while I didn't stunlock him (obviously, that was the whole point of this) he does tend to loop a lot. Basically every 8 hits he will stagger and once he recovers from his stagger he will immediately use whatever move got interrupted again. Since you deal super mega chip damage, the best way to try and deal damage is with moves that hit a lot of times like balloonga which hits like 7 times. This, combined with the fact that sora's counter hits like 3-5 times makes it so that Julius will stagger very frequently causing him to repeat moves a lot. Especially his punch combo since you normally want to counter it, you can permentally loop him by countering the punch combo and then casting any multihit spell that's fast enough like blizzaga or in this case balloonga. I tried to avoid looping him like that as much as possible since it would be weird to do this fight without stunlocking just to loop him instead which is only marginally less cheesy. So I would often use glide to avoid needing to counter his repeated punch combos, but there where plenty of times where I looped one of his attacks 3-4 times just because it would've been very inconvient on my part to not do so since he basically loops himself half the time and I actually have to go out of my way and skip punishes to prevent him from looping. Julius is kind of a janky and trash boss in some ways, but he's also surprisingly consistent and fair for you'd expect of him once you understand his stagger mechanics.

I'll also do this as Riku soon, I just gotta take a break cuz this boss is kinda exhausting to fight for so long. He's actually pretty consistent and fair, not even really that hard actually once you understand how his staggers work and you know how to dodge the buttslam. But he's just annoying.

Oh yeah I also did make some new spirits off recording for this fight since this isn't really part of the playthrough anymore. I should also mention if I didn't already that I used a separate savefile for my char clawbster fights so thats why I had different spirits there. This party I made for this fight is actually really, really good and probably one of the best parties in the game. So I wanna take some time here to talk about the best parties in this game since party comp is one of my favorite parts of this game

My favorite parties are:

Hebby Rep x3 - Great early game build, full HP and defense bonuses, full magic boost/hastes, and fire screen/boost. Fire screen is nice for wargoyle and char clawbster, fire boost is good if you dont have balloons yet or dont want them.

Wheeflower/Iceguin Ace/Hebby Rep- Great build for early and late game. It's mostly a strict upgrade to triple heppys and its available just as early, but the materials require doing portals so its less convient. Full HP, Magic, Magic haste, cure, fire, and blizzard boosts. Cure boost is super important if you're running HP boosts. Sadly this doesn't get full defense boost, but by the endgame that doesnt matter as much. Since triple hebbys gets full defense boost and is easier to make, its more suitable for the very early game than this setup.

Lord Kyroo/Majik Lapin/Zolephant- Great endgame setup. Spirit roar and cure from both Lapin and Lord Kyroo. Full HP, Defense, Cure, Magic, and Magic Haste makes it perfect for both balloon spam and survival. If you don't feel like making Lord Kyroo or can't yet, a second lapin works fine, you just wont get near as much cure boost and a few other passives. Sudo Neku can also replace Majik Lapin to give you reload boost which is under rated as hell because it makes your cures come off cooldown much faster once your second chance/once more is triggered. But then you lose a spirit roar healer.
