Kikoskia and the Fire Fest-E.V.I.L Ft. Dr Boom
96The Midsummer Fire Festival is an annual celebration on Azeroth of the hottest season of the year. Bonfires are lit all around Azeroth and Outland that people travel to to honour (or desecrate) their flames. It’s a reference to the Midsummer celebrations that take place in many societies during the summer solstice and in Hearthstone, it’s a time for flame related tavern brawls that are sometimes too hot to handle.
...Get it? Too hot? Fire Festi- Never mind.
This time however, things haven’t quite gone to plan for Ragnaros. The League of E.V.I.L have accidentally crashed Dalaran into Blackrock Mountain and the only way out is through. The denizens of the mountain are none too happy with this development and will do all they can to stop the league, but can they stand up to the overwhelming might of the recently victorious team and their lackeys?
The Fire Fest-E.V.I.L is a three week celebration that begins with a tavern brawl dungeon run unlike any other. Choosing one of the four underlings of Rafaam, you must take on eight of the encounters from the Blackrock Mountain adventure of old, building up a mighty deck for your ultimate showdown with Ragnaros. There’s a card pack for the upcoming expansion available if you beat four of the bosses and the Ragnaros card back if you defeat all eight, as well as golden cards up for grabs for doing so quickly. Add to that the legendary quests that give you lots of goodies and you’ve got a hugely fun event.
Giving newer players the opportunity to get a card back otherwise inaccessible to them is a fantastic idea, as is letting them experience most of the Blackrock Mountain adventure for free. The relatively easy to obtain rewards are just the icing on the cake for an event that’s off to a fantastic start. Let’s hope this momentum continues into the next two weeks, which is likely the amount of time Dr Boom will need to find reverse gear on Dalaran so they can dislodge the city and continue with their nefarious schemes.
