NOTE: This is a video I uploaded a while back. I am re-uploading it to get rid of a BS supposed visual content claim that a company called Media News, or Media in news put on it. They don't own Killzone, and they had no right to put a visual content claim on my vid. I put in two disputes to the claim, but to no avail, so I finally just deleted it. It had 50,000 views, but I really don't care. If Sony want's to put a claim on this vid, I wouldn't be super happy with it, but it's better than some other company claiming it and illegally making money off of it.

I captured, and edited all the footage shown in this vid.

This is just a comparison vid of the original Killzone when compared to Killzone 2.

To be honest, there are things I think the original does a lot better than KZ2, and there's are things I like about KZ2 better than KZ1 as well.

First of all, the guns in Killzone 1 are a lot better, just not the aiming system. Almost every gun in Killzone 1 has a secondary fire. I can't for the life of me figure out why they canned that feature in KZ2. The guns in KZ 2 all feel the same to me. There's nothing to distinguish them apart. They have no character. However, aiming through the sights is a lot better than just zooming the reticule in, but that's really the only advantage KZ2 has over KZ1 when it comes tot he weapons. The weapons were more fun in KZ1.

Then there's the single player campaign. Honestly, I think the Killzone 2 was trying too hard to be like Call of Duty. They kept trying to force the epic battle scene feel on you, and it also threw in the "hey you go do this" BS that I absolutely despise about the Call of Duty series, the me-too vehicle scene, me-too overdone scripted boss fights, and the me-too rail shooter scene (which was one of the worst scripted scenes this side of Gears 1's horrid vehicle scene). Killzone 1 has a few "hey you's" in it, and a few obvious turret scenes (where you get on a turret and the enemies magically appear), but nothing to the overdone degree of Call of Duty or Killzone 2. What I like about KZ1's SP, is that you're on foot the entire time. None of the overdone scripted vehicle type scenes that feel more like they take you away from the real game, instead of give you gameplay variety.

Some people may say that's what made Killzone 1 bad, but production values are overrated. I'd rather developers just stick with solid gameplay over overdone scripted crap, and despite what the reviews say, Killzone 1 is a completely solid game.

And yes, Killzone 1 does have it's share of glitches. however, despite popular belief that it's because the developers were trying too much on the PS2 (because I've seen games I'd consider to be comparible that run smoothly on the system), I honestly believe that the game was rushed out the door to beat Halo 2 to the market before they could fix all the bugs. A plus for Killzone 2 is that it's completely smooth, and isn't glitchy.

Both games are linear as hell though, but I find the battles in KZ1 to be a little bit more intense than in KZ2 low production values or not. However, I do like the implementation of the duck and cover mechanic in Killzone 2.

Overall I like Killzone 1's single player a lot better than Killzone 2's. I know that sounds like blasphemy in a world saturated by the mainstream gaming press that will tell the uneducated how to think, but that's honestly how I feel. Maybe it's because i played it first, but even so, Killzone 2 just feels a little bit too much like everything else on the market, and I was disappointed that they strayed too far away from the original as far as the feel of the game.

It's not that I think KZ2's SP is bad, just disappointing. If they would have fixed some of the issues in KZ1, and released a game closer to the original, then I really would have enjoyed it a lot more in the Single player.

As for Online Multi, Killzone 2 is a lot better, so it's a toss up I guess. It still, however, seems to cater to explosive whores at times though.

If Killzone 3 can successfully combine both KZ1 and KZ2, then I'd be all for it, but as is, I'm on the fence about getting KZ3 if and when it hits.

I also like the art style of the original a little better. And you though that KZ2 had a lot of greyness to it. The first one feels a little bit more gritty.

I guess all of this is a matter of preference though.
