Soldiers from the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery have marked the start of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations with a gun salute in Hyde Park. The horses rode from their barracks in north London for the last time, as they will move in to new accommodation tomorrow. Thousands of people lined the streets to see them and pay their respects and the CO took time to thank them all. The troop was formed by the King in 1947 and Queen Elizabeth II retained their name in honour of her father. Tomorrow they will move in to a new state-of-the-art carbon neutral barracks in Woolwich, which is powered by horse muck.
