Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (PS1) - 100% ~ 03: The Rebirth of Forlock & Saving Chieftess Granny!
With the waterfall in Jugpot back to normal, Forlock quickly comes back to life & Klonoa & Hewpoe continue on their way to get to Chieftess Granny. Though, Klonoa tries going on the gondola, but realizes it's not functional. He notices a Forlockian has been tied up. He frees him & in return, the Forlockian makes the Gondola functional again. Unfortunatly, Joka isn't far ahead & sees what happened & he is not pleased. To prevent Klonoa from going any further, he sends out Moos to hide the keys to the door.
The key gimmick from Vision 2-1 is back, but this time the level is more exploration focused, so you have to go off to another path to get the key for the door. This level introduces some spring coil looking platforms. Their basically just the typical bouncy platforms, but it does make the platforming a bit more complex. Not much to talk about this level, but it is fun regardless.
Klonoa & Hewpoe arrives by the area where Granny's house is at, but they reach a dead end. Just then another guard shows up. After Klonoa & Hewpoe explains to the guard that their only here to talk to Granny and not go after her, the guard explains that Granny's Mansion was taken over and all the Guards were kicked out by Joka. Though, Klonoa & Hewpoe are still determined to help, so the Guard summons a floating wooden platform for Klonoa to use to get into Granny's Mansion to help save her.
Vision 3-2 is another non-linear level, but this time instead of just finding keys to open doors, you also need to turn on switches to start up the gears in the Mansion of Machinery to get through parts of the level. Turning on the switches requires some thinking and platforming skills which is a welcome challange, especially since this level introduces the Boomies, which are enemies that'll blow up like a bomb after a few seconds. If they blow up and you get caught in the cross fire you'll lose health, so you have to make sure you're not holding them as their about to blow. The Boomies also helps you turn on switches out of reach, because if they hit a wall while they haven't blown up yet, they'll stay put until you pick them up or they explode, so you can plant them by switches so they'll hit it as they blow up. It's another pretty fun challenge that keeps you on your toes.
After Klonoa starts up the Mansion's Machinery, he reaches the top of Forlock where he sees Joka trying to get Granny to reveal the secrets of the Moon Pendent. He sends out his other monster, Gelg Bolm to take care of everyone there, while also revealing his weak spot is above.
Gelg Bolm is a lot like Rongo Lango, except his weak spot is above and the area for the weak spot is a lot smaller than Rongo Lango's weakspot. You have to use the springs in order to get high enough to do a double jump to hit Gelg Bolm when he moves across the screen. Gelg Bolm will also jump high up in the air to squash you when he lands, but you need to aim him properly, so you can have just enough space to jump on the Springs to the double jump attack on him. Gelg Bolm will occasionally sprout a Spiky Fruit that you need to either use the springs or use both the springs & Klonoa's Double Jump to jump over it depending on the size of the fruit. It's a lot more challenging, but it is still easy to get through.
After the duo defeats Gelg Bolm, Klonoa frees Granny and he tells Granny about how Grandpa ask about the Moon Pendant, though she already knew that a while ago. She talks about the history of the Moon Pendant & the Moon Kingdom: about how the Dark Spirit (Ghadius) returning, along with the Pendant, Lephise & the dream that created the world is according to legends. The legend says that the Moon Pendant is the key to the Moon Kingdom (Cress), and it is to be placed at the Temple of the Sun's (Coronia) pedestals for the path to open. Granny asks where the pendant is, and Klonoa responds by saying it's with Grandpa. Granny tells Klonoa to hide the pendant well, as Ghadius & Joka are looking for it. Unfortunately and conveniently, Joka was right behind them the whole time & heard everything, revealing that everything he was more cunning then he seemed as everything he did before was all part of his plan. He then leaves to get to Klonoa's house to steal the Moon Pendant. Klonoa & Hewpoe are now in a race against time as they have to get back home before Joka does. Luckily, Granny shows them a shortcut back to home through the Wind Ruins, but she warns them to be careful, because the shortcut is very dangerous.
The next Vision is where the story.. gets dark...
