Knuckle Kid [ナックル・キッド] Game Sample -- PC-98
Knuckle Kid is another simple budget game by Compile in 1995 (part of Compile's "Disc Station" line-up of simple games and demos, Book Type Vol.8 to be specific) and is a decent, quick diversion for fans of the Disc Station brand. Its whole title is "Knuckle Kid vs Dr. Amakatsu's Animal Force". In the game, you simply go around punching robotic animals (so animal rights activists would be less likely to object I imagine) who spawn from trash cans. You can charge your punch to give it more power and your goal is to destroy the trash can on the level before defeating all the enemies (otherwise, they'll keep spawning).
If you're skilled enough, you can destroy everything in one fell-swoop for an incredible 100,000 point bonus by guesstimating the angle and trajectory of the enemy on a given elevation and how they will hit every foe on the stage. After a few stages, you fight a boss. Each world has enemies with different traits or characteristics. For example, level one foes are slow and sometimes jump above or below, level two foes charge at you if spotted, level three foes move when you move and attempt to jump if you're on the same elevation, etc. The game has simple visuals and good audio. This is a video of the game in action. Enjoy.
