As it turns out, ektomarch (the devs) is based in Japan, hence the totally Japanese craziness and feels emanating from this game.
It has an utterly silly premise where you try to become the best robot boxer in the world, and you have to progress through a weird variety of levels to do that. It's a great game for if you just want to mindlessly mash a few buttons without any care in the world.
...until the process of button mashing becomes one-dimensional and you feel bored after a while, that is. Plus, the visual clutter is crazy, and it has led to me taking some hits that I really did not intend to take.
Thankfully, it's only $5, so it's a pretty small cheap coffee break game.
