Our concert titled "What Makes Us Human" features pieces that explore some of the major emotions and feelings that we as humans experience throughout our lifetime.

“It is a quiet thing, to fall, but far more terrible to admit it.” Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II is set almost 4000 years before the classic movies and opens with the last Jedi, an exile after a brutal war years before, returns to the galaxy and is attacked by a Sith warship. The game begins on an asteroid mining station, Peragus II, where the Exile’s ship auto docked after almost being destroyed. The Exile awakes to find all the miners dead and the facility abandoned save for a mysterious crew member and a smuggler locked up. Together these three must find a way to escape the facility before they meet the same fate as the miners. “Malachor V” was arranged to match the eerie feeling that follows the player throughout the game as they unravel the mystery of what happened to the galaxy during the Exile’s long absence and who is targeting the Jedi from the shadows.

The 8-Bit Orchestra was inspired by the University of Maryland Gamer Symphony Orchestra, the first collegiate ensemble dedicated to performing video game music.

8-Bit pieces are arranged by students, conducted by students, and performed by students of the University of Delaware. The group organizes concerts twice a year: at the end of the fall and spring semesters. Starting with a group of around 40, now reaching nearly 60 members from a wide variety of majors, the 8-Bit Orchestra is continuing to grow. Today, we are the largest instrumental music RSO on campus, and have been invited to perform at off-campus events like Minefaire, the Minecraft fan convention.
