Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony Review - HD Remaster of the 2009' Touhouvania
8Reviewing Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony, the HD Remastered version of the 2009 Koumajou Densetsu: Scarlet Symphony (Scarlet Devil Castle Legend). It resembles a more older Castlevania type of game that combines shooting, melee, bullet-hell and beautifully narrated anime and dialogue between Touhou characters and lovely pixel art visuals.
Featured characters: Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame, Cirno, Hong Meiling, Sakuya Izayoi, Alice Margatroid, Suika Ibuki, Patchouli Knowledge, and Remilia Scarlet.
The game was inspired by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. This newly remastered version was released for PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
The game combines many things that I enjoy in games and although the movements might be a bit old school, classic, but I like these retro vibes and combat felt good overall. There is an extra bonus run, while short, can be really fun and challenging if you take it to the highest difficulty.
Overall: Recommended, especially if you played the original. Keep in mind that it still feels old-school and the mechanics don't feel modern. Something I would have liked to see updated personally.
