Firespitter propeller plane and helicopter parts v4.0 by Snjo aka Andreas Aakvik

Sometimes you only have time for a quickie. Today we are taking a riff off the Single-Stage-To-Orbit designs of Philip Bono, notably the ROMBUS and Pegasus which were designed to take off vertically, re-enter using their large plug nozzle engines as a heat shield, and land vertically, with strap-on disposable tanks for the extra fuel.

While we lack an aerospike or a plug nozzle of the requisite massive dimensions, we will otherwise attempt to replicate the general idea of a rocket that launches vertically, drops tanks but not engines on the way up, and then lands vertically on return to Earth.
