In this video, I launch what I hope will become the core of a Space Station similar to the Goonstation ( see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCe-1VU3c7Y ).

A few of the posters at ShackNews.com have decided to attempt our own huge space station in Kerbal Space Program. This is my recording of the launch of the initial part.

In typical Kerbal fashion, even though I tested launching the part in a different save previous to recording this video, I have launch problems while recording. I eventually work them out and get into the desired orbit, however, I do have one minor partial failure. It wouldn't be a Kerbal mission without one!

I get the station core into a circular orbit at 150km, varying by less than 50 meters (apparently the disconnect of the tug at the end of the video helped to circularize the orbit even more!). The orbit is less than a tenth of a degree from being directly east-west.

This save will now be passed on to another player, so that they can add a part to the station. Hopefully we will be able to get additional videos and pictures of the other parts, and be able to put together a video chronicling the construction of Shack Station.
