This is the tenth part of the La-Mulana streamed playthrough. In this part, I do a lot of puzzle solving, in preparation for the fights with Palenque and Tiamat.

In the Chamber of Birth, there's a lot to do, and most of it revolves around the use items you have. You have to be very observant to see where they can be used, as a matching symbol can be often obscured or otherwise difficult to notice out of the background images. The main things I get here are the Dimensional Key, which allows me to solve the puzzle to defeat Tiamat, and the Woman Statue.

The use of the Woman Statue is a puzzle all on its own, and it was alluded to in several clues throughout the game. Temple of the Sun and Temple of Moonlight are referred to as a man and woman respectively, and you have to bring the Woman Statue to the inside of the pyramid sections in each area.

In the Temple of the Sun's pyramid, waiting in the area with the multicoloured objects turns the statue into the Maternity Statue. Now that you have this, you can get inside the area with the uterus in the Temple of Moonlight, and sleeping in this area reveals the Philosopher's Ocarina. With this item, I can now awaken the Philosophers themselves and speak to them.

The Philosophers were apparently responsible for setting up the traps in the ruins, in order to test the one capable of being chosen. The chosen one must summon then defeat the soul of the Mother, the being which is actually the ruins itself, as it is apparently not possible to sent her back to the heavens where she came from. There are a couple of items I need in order to do this, but that will come after I defeat all of the guardians.

One thing I didn't work out was how to reveal Skanda, the giant mudman which guards the Pochette Key. This is the last item I need in order to fight Palenque, so I'm missing something, but I'm sure I will find it before long.

I do a bit of stocking up of gold, and this allows me to buy the Scriptures, which both gives double exp and makes me immune to bats.

In the Dimensional Corridor, there are a series of minibosses you have to defeat in order to progress. Defeating a number of them reveals a couple of weight platforms, which leads to the Angel Shield. This is a step up from the Silver Shield, being both larger and immune to being knocked down. The final Philosopher was also here, the others being in the Temple of Moonlight, Temple of the Goddess and Shrine in the Sky.

In the next part I'll have to figure out how to get the Pochette Key, and defeat Palenque and Tiamat. After that, we have the long process required to summon the soul of the Mother, and oh boy will that take its time.
