The ice began cracking during an ice-fishing derby and several hundred people had to be rescued by helicopter as they were stranded from getting back to shore. In this Jan. 26, 1997 report, Satinder Bindra updates Sunday Report viewers on a rescue effort that began unfolding on Ontario's Lake Simcoe the previous day.
