Late-Game Minecraft 393 :: Basement Walls of Stone
Further progress on the new house today! We build up the walls for the basement and place down some deepslate for the floor. Since we do not have any glass, we use iron bars to make some windows! We also add in a row of stripped jungle logs over the wall, forming an overhang for the floor above!
We place down a crafting table and make some oak stairs! Then, we widen the stairs that lead to our new house. We also decide to place upside-down stairs beneath to make the staircase appear more sturdy! We look around to see what else we can build before heading down the hill to the farm.
Harvesting some sugar canes and wheat, we chop down the acacia trees! We head up the hill to chop down an oak tree. We craft some torches and take out some deepslate and cobblestone from the chest! We look around for our stonecutter, and we realise that it has always been in our inventory!
Returning to the construction site, we try using cobbled deepslate and polished deepslate for the floor! We prefer the polished blocks as they look smoother. To add some variation to the texture, we use some deepslate tiles as well!
Crafting a pickaxe and a crafting table, we head over to the farm to collect the acacia saplings! Afterwards, we try out a border of stripped spruce logs at the top of the stone walls. We head to the hill with the campfire to look at the design from afar!
The spruce wood looks a little too saturated! We place down a block of dark oak logs to see if its shade of brown would look better on the walls of the base. For the main wall of the house, we intend to use jungle planks because we hardly get the chance to build with it!
Building a wall of jungle planks above the stripped spruce, we go to sleep as the sun sets! The next day, we place down more deepslate for the floor of the basement, but our supplies are limited! We try using stripped jungle logs instead of the spruce as it matches the colour of the planks!
In the end, we decide to go with the jungle wood design! Taking out some cobblestone and stone, we start building the walls of the basement. We randomly add in mossy cobblestone and mossy stone bricks to make the walls look older!
Soon, we run out of normal stone! We accidentally fall into the nearby cave, ouch! We decide to use our cobblestone to craft a new furnace and smelt more stone. Then, we craft some iron bars for windows! The iron bars add to the dilapidated look of the basement!
While waiting for the smelting to complete, we place down more stripped jungle logs at the top of the basement walls! It is a little annoying to build as we need to place a block first before placing the logs on top to position them correctly.
After we are done with the basement, we shear a sheep before continuing to work on the stripped jungle log layer! To make the house appear less flat, we decide to make the logs protrude out from the wall. We craft some spruce planks to be used as filler blocks before going to sleep!
The design of the entrance wall is a little more complicated as it is irregularly shaped! In contrast, placing the jungle logs for the other walls is quite easy. For the entrance, we place the jungle planks directly on top of the jungle logs to see how it looks!
It seems that having the plank walls aligned with the basement walls looks much better! We restore the planks to their original position and take a look again. Then, we decide to continue building the wall design around the entire base!
We craft a new iron axe as our old one is losing durability quickly from stripping logs! Placing down spruce planks to mark the position of the walls, we remove a row of the planks as we want to make an overhang! We place the jungle logs on top of some wool.
The wool is merely a temporary block to help us position the logs correctly, and we break it soon after! When we are done, we store our items in the double chest. We use the rest of our iron bars to add more windows to the basement!
We remove a corner of the basement wall near the entrance, and this makes the wall look rounder! We continue to tweak the design of the basement walls before sleeping for the night. In the morning, we inspect the walls to make sure that the blocks are sufficiently random!
Using a water bucket to escape from the basement, we return to the campsite on the opposite hill! We craft a new iron hoe and tend to our wheat farm. Then, we climb up to the top of the jungle tree and end the episode there!
