Late-Game Minecraft 391 :: Laying Some Foundations
It is time to build a new house! We have been homeless for far too long, and we are starting to feel too vulnerable. We look around for a suitable place to build a new home! On a nearby plateau that overlooks the river, we start digging out some dirt, and place down columns of acacia logs!
Cutting down a tall spruce tree, we destroy the leaves hoping to get more saplings! Unfortunately, there are not many leaves on the tree. Returning to the ground, we look around for a good place to build a starter house! We also want to have a scenic view from the house.
We walk past a small crack in the ground where we had found coal during our first few days in the savannah, and notice some animals trapped inside! At the top of the hill overlooking the river, we shear a sheep. The land here is quite flat, and the view of both the river and the savannah is breathtaking!
Deciding to make this hill the location of our new house, we start clearing away some oak trees in the area! We see another narrow crack in the terrain nearby. Sleeping for the night, we return to the campsite to look for spruce saplings!
Alas, we only find a single sapling! It is not enough for growing another large spruce tree. We plant it down before crafting a new iron shovel! We also harvest some bamboo and use it to craft some scaffolding, which will be useful for building!
Our supply of string is limited though, and we still have many other things to craft with the strings! With just 12 scaffolding blocks, we head back to the location of our new base where we collect some sticks and oak saplings from the decaying leaves. Then, we make a pillar of scaffolding!
Climbing up the scaffolding, we study the land and decide on a layout for our new base! We start digging away the grass blocks to mark out the area for the base. We use our shears to pick up some tall grass which can be used for decoration!
To give us some room for creativity, we try to make the base layout follow the natural shape of the land! We also add in some diagonal walls and curved sections. To ensure that the entire layout is on flat ground, we place down some dirt blocks to raise the land!
Using some scaffolding, we study the layout carefully from above! We fill in a corner of the base where we intend to have the entrance, and dig out some blocks beneath for a staircase. Then, we head back to the campsite on the opposite hill!
Keeping away our dirt blocks, we chop down a oak tree before sleeping for the night! The next day, we replant the sapling and craft some oak stairs. We bring some oak saplings over to the construction site and plant them! We start building the staircase up to our base.
Walking back to the campfire, we destroy some leaves and pick up some blocks! We also place some cobblestone into the furnace to smelt into normal stone. We also craft some shears to harvest the vines that are growing on the jungle tree!
Below our staircase, we start building a wall of stone! The wall is made up of several different blocks, including cobblestone, stone bricks, and the mossy versions of those blocks! We leave some spaces for the stone bricks as we have not crafted them yet!
Seeing an Enderman in the distance, we build a shelter with a low ceiling and prepare to attack it! The Enderman disappears though! We dismantle the shelter and head to our chests to pick up some acacia logs. We chop down the birch trees before taking out the stone from the furnace!
After placing the stone bricks on the wall, we chop down some oak trees! Then, we place down the acacia logs to form support pillars for the roof! We use our water bucket to get down safely from the top of the pillars. We sleep for the night before continuing!
We decide to make the stone wall diagonal before extending it a little! We intend to build a basement on the ground for storage. Crafting some spruce planks, we place them down to mark the edges of the basement! We build another acacia pillar before chopping down an oak tree.
Since we are out of acacia wood, we head down to the cow pen to cut some acacia trees! We also harvest some wheat and sugar canes. Returning to the oak plank staircase, we collect the oak saplings and the sticks on the ground before ending the episode!
