Proof of concept video showing an Android 14 Generic System Image (GSI) successfully running on the second-generation LeapFrog LeapPad Academy with a Rockchip RK3326 system-on-chip. All that's basically needed to be done is to patch boot.img with Magisk to obtain temporary root and thus be able to edit the system settings database, as the option to enable USB debugging/ADB was removed from the stock ROM. I flashed back the stock boot image as Magisk has issues with the LeapPad's wireless chip, then I rebooted into fastbootd mode, wiped all data and flashed the system image. Performance and battery life with this thing leaves a lot to be desired though.

Mad props to @R0rt1z2 and @TBM13 of GitHub for helping with making this hack possible. And of course to LeapFrog/VTech as they opened up the kernel sources (though in this case the stock kernel was used for the time being) and they somehow made the second-gen LeapPad unlocked lel
