In this video, Mahalo expert Justin Z. gives a brief overview of what the Crop tool does and how it can be used to "trim the fat" off your photographs.

Crop Tool
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The Crop tool allows you to select a part of your image and delete the surrounding parts with a click of your mouse, leaving only what remains as your total canvas. This can be useful for quick removal of unwanted sections of your photograph.
1. Simply click on the Crop tool in the tool bar, then click and drag the area of your image that you want to keep and press Enter or the Checkmark button at the top menu.2. If you wish for a precise square as you make your selection, press and hold Shift, then click and drag.3. If you wish to expand your selection, click with your mouse and hold the Option key.4. To do both, click and hold the Option key, followed by the Shift key, then click and drag.5. If you wish to manipulate your crop selection before you finish, you can expand, contract and manipulate the image. To expand or contract, click and drag one of the six squares surrounding the edges of the selection. To rotate, click and drag the image just outside the edges of the selection.6. At the top are a few options to help guide you through your cropping process.
* The Shield option will darken the unwanted areas of your image. You can change the opacity to a range of your choice.
* The Crop Guide Overlay option gives you grid choices, making it easier or more efficient to crop a certain part of the image.
* Color allows you to change the darkening surroundings of the crop selection to whatever you like.
* Perspective will change the center crosshair on the crop image to the center of the image itself or to the center of the crop selection.
* You will most likely use this tool at the beginning of your Photoshop project to get rid of unwanted space on your photo.
