Learning more - Returnal #3
I discover a few more aspects of the gameplay in this run.
I haven't looked up anything about the game, so I'm still discovering, but not nearly as much as before.
11:41 I have no idea why I restarted the cycle here. I wasn't at a dead end. There was an unexplored green archway to progress through.
I discovered that you have to quickly run towards the death of a creature you kill to get the yellow currency that drops. I found a room with two separating floors that require you to quickly choose one to get the powerup on that side, otherwise you get neither. I found another room with glowing tentacle creatures that disappear after a time - but you can try to quickly kill them to increase your adrenaline. And I found a device that acts like a slot machine, making a random item (really?).
I'm starting to see a lot of very gamey elements.
As for things I haven't figured yet:
- Deactivate the red barrier around some archways (solved: requires the melee blade, found past the first brute)
- Figure out how I brought down the red shield on one of the red cannons (grenade apparently, not sure what else works)
- Find my way past the barred openings to reach the chests beyond
- Tear down the hard vines to get to the powerup behind them
- Grab on to the ledges that have lights on them (I guess this requires a grappling hook, which I won't get until later)
- Get into the locked house (solved: found a key for it)
- How to pick up the huge chunks of yellow
- Beat the huge brute - its fast lunge kills me every time. (solved: just fight better)
