I was quite a fan of Software Creations' C64 conversion of Capcom's arcade racing game, but just as with Bionic Commando, the Amiga version really isn't much to write home about. This is really just a straight port from the Atari ST version, as evidenced by the fact the game retains the same horizontal burst-scrolling. I guess 1988 was still a time where the Amiga had yet to become the dominant platform, so developers were reluctant to spend time and effort on writing code for the custom chipset.
The ability to transform between car and bike from he C64 version is gone (and was never in the arcade version to begin with), leaving just the car mode. The rest of the game is largely the same, in that you race across post-apocalyptic landscapes and crumbling speedways, avoiding all manner of hazards and collecting power-ups along the way.
Actually collecting any of these is pretty darned difficult, thanks to the fact the vehicle handling is pretty unresponsive at the best of times, and the game has a habit of placing jerry cans and energy packs in places that cause you to run straight into a wall or down a crevasse, should you try to collect them. It makes for a frustrating experience, and it's difficult to recommend this version of the game, especially when the C64 is so much better.
