Good-looking shoot 'em up whose main gimmick, and a pretty cool one at that, is the ability to change between spaceship and Gundam-esque mech suit, Hyper Duel is actually a surprisingly cool game. Ship form offers maximum manoeuvrability and a good spread of fire, while mech mode provides controlled, directional fire in a 160 degree arc in front of the player.

The bar on the bottom left of the screen represents the player's overcharge power gauge. Holding down attack buttons supercharges your weapons, increasing fire rate and spread for a limited period, which makes it ideal for subduing larger enemies and bosses. The gauge recharges slowly, so it's best to save the ability for when you really need it, not squander it on regular enemies.
