First ever speedrun of the game recorded, and the only one as of writing this! Kind of a silly speedrun given how linear the gameis, though I saw it wasn't listed on speedrun.com and figured I may as well be the first! Say what you will about the story, art direction, etc., but the game itself is a really unique experience. I don't know of any other game where the protagonist is a bird with full 3D movement and a combat system like this. Its a joy to playthrough. Perhaps not too suited for being a game for speedrunning or playing more than once or twice. This is only my 3rd playthough of the game too to be honest! 100% once on the Xbox 360 (which controls much nicer due to the analog stick) and 100% on the Wii on Dolphin Emulator (I was too lazy to actually setup my wii just to play this lol)
And as you may expect from the odd lag the game has throughout the run, as well as the sharper resolution, it is because I completed this run on emulator using Dolphin. I was debating if I should do it on console or on emulator as my first run, but this was just more convenient, as getting and setting up a capture card just for this game, plus my Wii console felt like a bit much. I did complete this using the Wii remote controller though, so motion control flying was all authentic! :D Its not so bad once you get used to it, though the same can't be said for the combat targeting system in the game lol.
Anywho I do plan to release a guide for this game if anyone else out there is silly enough to do a run of this like me. The run is pretty straightforward with just some small optimizing strategies throughout it. To be honest removing lag, saving, and finding the optimal strategy for armor and the like, along with just better targeting and movement in some sections, I feel like 1:55:xx or lower is definitely possible. 100% completion in the game is also pretty fun to do casually, though unforunately the Scoll collectibles that unlock the Gallery are not counted in this. I've marked down their locations in the WIP guide, so if anyone does get stuck there's that. I do also think 100% might be able to keep someone's interest in the run a bit better, as each of the bonus stages break up the monotonous linearity of the missions with a bit of choice. I haven't routed them optimally, and am far from even routing them for the run to begin with, but I feel like going through and disovering a route can be fun, and if anyone else wants to route the missions from scratch as well, feel free to! I might do a 100% All Scrolls run eventually, however, im a bit worn out from playing so much after beating the game twice in a row now! @w@
As for anyone interested in actually running this game for whatever reason, feel free to message me! Remember this is kind of a silly run, so it shouldnt be taken too seriously ^^; And to anyone who thinks the game looks interesting, but isnt inclined to run it, I highly recommend picking up a copy if you can find one, on any system, and try the game out! I wouldn't have run it if I didn't enjoy it as much as I do, so I encourage anyone who's interested to at least give it a shot. The gameplay is really something fun to experience!
Anyways I'll stop rambling now Thanks for watching, and enjoy the owls :3
