In order to stop the momentum from the jetpack, all you have to do is drop it. This will cause you to free fall in place canceling all momentum (other than from the auto polit ship moving you at the start).

A useful trick if you are going a tad to fast and are about to hit a wall, or just want to get to areas quicker without slowing down.

Do note that the jetpack has an energy drain bug if you drop the jetpack while holding the thruster. To fix this bug if activated, just mash the thruster button rapidly.
