Hey!

So here's another "Let's Discuss" video in which I talk about an idea I've had for difficulty to be implemented into game design. That idea is dynamic difficulty.

I had the idea a little while back, but really thought about it after watching a video another Youtuber, EpicNameBro, did on difficulty. You can see the video here (harsh language, discretion advised):

He covered two kinds of difficulty implementations. Basically, there's modal difficulty, in which the player has the ability to select in increments what difficulty they want to play the game at (i.e. Easy, Medium, Hard). There's also organic difficulty, which is pretty much anything else.

However, dynamic difficulty is something that he didn't quite cover. I would say that dynamic difficulty would be when the game watches how skilled the player is, and automatically adjusts the difficulty to fit the player's abilities. It's something that can, if executed correctly, make a challenge for every person playing the game, in theory.

Dynamic difficulty isn't something I see a lot of, but maybe I just don't look in the right places. So, if you've seen examples of games in which dynamic difficulty was displayed, please feel free to tell me about it! If you've got idea for a "Let's Discuss", please also feel free to leave an idea in the comments.

Well, thanks a lot!
