I've been asked how I'm gaming on Linux more often these days. It's super easy to do. Wild how fast things have accelerated with Windows gaming on Linux. Now, it's not so much that I'm in love with Linux as it is I hate Microsoft and all their shenanigans. In my opinion, they've lost their way since Bill Gates stepped down.

Anyway, in this video I take you through the initial installation of Debian 12 to playing Windows games in Steam and GOG. IRL, I speak only in tech talk, but in this video I have tried to avoid getting technical for the most part. Because I'm trying to keep it as simple as I can for n00bz, which I'm not super good, the nerdcentric accuracy of what I'm saying kind of derails here and there. This video is really for someone that's an average user in Windows who may not have any experience with Linux but is curious about how Linux gaming works in 2024.

You'll need to download Debian net installer ISO and use something like Rufus to poop it on a USB drive. This video picks up where you've done that and booted the hardware from said Debian USB stick. It begins with a VM to show the quick & dirty installation process. Then it switches to a real PC running Debian 12 with a few more Gnome extensions and games installed.

If this video does well, I'll make more that go deeper into the subject and show how solve common Linux issues (that you might already know how to fix in Windows) when using Debian as a daily driver.

DISCLAIMER: I had a few drinks throughout the making of this video. It either got way better or way worse towards the end. I began to deteriorate into anti-Windows rhetoric and my ability to use coherent analogies for technical concepts eventually waved bye-bye. You get to decide if that was a good or bad thing. ;)

For convenience, the few commands from the video you'll need to type are:
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo add-apt-repository non-free
sudo apt install ./
flatpak install ./
