Darkest Dungeon is a turn based rpg with some strategic resource management. This is a modded version with extra classes, different loading screens, different skins for the classes, etc. No gameplay (besides new classes) mods whatsoever.

If you love turn based rpgs with consequences, then you found the jackpot. Autosaves make restarting a poor start in a dungeon an impossibility so be careful for goodness sake. There are numerous mechanics that can work for or against you as well.

Stress is a huge thing in Darkest Dungeon. Whenever a party member gets hit with an either disgusting or frightening attack they gain stress. Stress can also be gathered by walking around in the dungeon (bonus stress if it's dark or because of quirks). When stress hits 100 2 things can happen, the member can become afflicted (This is VERY bad) or become virtuous. Afflictions, generally drag the whole party into stress, make them refuse healing or will automatically pass their turn (Other nasty effects can happen as well). While virtuous characters have a chance to give a buff to themselves and the party every turn. Oh and if they get to 200 stress they have a heart attack and die (my first ever death after this video was a camp fire side heart attack XD )

You also have to monitor food, remaining event solutions (bandages,anti-venom,keys,herbs, etc), and of course health since you can't heal outside battle except for eating or certain events. In the beginning if you don't look up the curios or "events" you can easily throw items away or get frustrated. A little common sense can help (ie an heirloom chest opens with a key, or wrapping your hands when handling sharp objects etc)

Party members all have a preferred spot in the lineup depending on their skills, so make sure to not put the Arbalest in the front. Also some party members will move automatically when they use a certain move like "lunge forward" so pay attention!

Also when any member of your party reaches 1hp they enter "death's door" status, this is obviously not ideal. Any damage they take afterwards has a chance of killing them. They also incur stat penalties because of their brush with mortality. One penalty goes away after they're no longer in at death's door. Whereas the other is until the END of the dungeon, so don't let this happen often.

All in all, Darkest dungeon can prove a difficult challenge juggling all this but it makes for an incredibly satisfying experience. I highly recommend modding it as well to add to the experience.
