0Matriarch is probably the queen of card plays out of the villains. The Chairman (coming soon) is probably the next one and can sometimes be a bit close, but nobody beats out Matriarch.
If she plays a "Fowl" card, she immediately plays the next card in her deck. The vast majority of her deck is "Fowl" cards. And you can quite quickly find the skies filled with 1 hit point birds doing their best homage to Alfred Hitchcock.
At first, this doesn't sound that bad, but then you get to the part where Matriarch deals direct damage to heroes whenever one of her birds is defeated. So trying to clear the skies means suffering a deluge of damage.
On top of that, on her flip side, whenever a Fowl card comes into play she heals a little bit. So, with her propensity to rapidly flood the battlefield either from her deck or her discard, she can rapidly recover from a near loss.
She is one of the few villains ranked as being difficulty 4 and you have to very carefully plan your team complement to account for this.
So my decision this video to build a team around story....wasn't the best one.
