This is the Age of Empires titles that was "ported" to Nintendo DS. I say "ported", but the DS title features a turn-based gameplay model that may be unique to this title. It may be better to describe this game as a derivative of Age of Empires II. This game features 5 playable civilizations (Franks, Britons, Mongols, Saracens, Japanese) that each have their own unique hero and campaign. Each hero has unique powers that can be activated on the player's turn, which can be used to do things like heal units, improve allies combat stats, lower an enemy's stats, damage enemies, or reduce recruitment costs.

The game only supports four players and map sizes are obviously quite small. Despite these restrictions, the game can still lag when too many units are in play or when the match has dragged on for a number of turns. My physical copy crashed several times during long play sessions, for example.

This is a simplistic version of Age of Empires II, but the turn-based element is an interesting change to the series and the game still manages to be quite fun.
