3The King Richard campaign continues with Richard I attacking Cyprus after Isaac of Cyprus dares to piss off the Lionheart. The backstory for this battle is that a storm wrecks a few of Richard I's ships on Cyprus, including the ship carrying his treasury. The ship carrying Richard's sister Joan and his fiancée Berengaria of Navarre also wrecked here, and Isaac of Cyprus not only stole Richard's treasury, but took all the survivors of the wrecks as prisoners. Of course, this serves to sufficiently insult Richard I, who lands on the island and quickly dismantles Isaac of Cyprus's army with some help from various princes from the Crusader States, including Guy de Lusignan.
Guy de Lusignan, after losing Jerusalem, would never really win his feud against Conrad of Montferrat. While Conrad of Montferrat would be assassinated, Guy de Lusignan would never again rule Jerusalem, and instead became the King of Cyprus after purchasing it from the Templars, who had purchased it from Richard I.
