Let's play Aurora 4x - Interlude 1 - "Saturn Message"
An experiment of a sort - several hours learning how to edit and vocalize messages, what effects there would be on radio waves traveling across the distance of almost entire solar system... this is what I came up with. Hope you enjoy!
Transcript:
"This is Earth Federation Ship GE Hayasdan Kingdom, registration number X-002, commander Isabella Carrol speaking. Time and date of recording: 22:24, 29th of August 2067.
Fleet command we are sending you our telemetry and preliminary reports as we have just entered extended orbit around Saturn. We are going to start our month's long survey tomorrow by the gas giant itself. Ships computer calculated that if everything goes according to plan next in our path should be Pandora, then Atlas and Prometheus. The rest is too hard to predict now as it depends on too many things. We will keep you posted.
Everybody is excited to be writing the history books, Fleet command. No man has ever went so far. But it's also a bit scary to be honest. Nobody could save us here if anything, anything at all went wrong. Even this message will take almost an hour to get to you. No wonder - we are almost a billion kilometers away. I would like to know if the crew of Apollo 11 has the same thoughts.
I can't wait to be back home or at least back in the inner system, a bit closer to the Sun.
Keep an eye on us, will you? Carrol out."
From the wiki: Aurora is a 4X (eXpand, eXplore, eXploit, and eXterminate) science fiction strategy game. Players develop their interstellar empire from the humble beginnings on their homeworld to conquer the universe, or be pummelled into the ashes of history by opposing races.
Some say it has the graphical charm of an income tax assistant software from the late nineties, but a playing depth that more than rivals any commercial 4X game. Aurora is different because it places emphasis on fleet operations and detailed tactical combat.
The game is under constant development and there is an active and friendly player community in the forum that will help you with any question or problem you might encounter.
