Well, what's there to say about Bayonetta? A lot actually, so let's dive in. PlatinumGames holds some pretty great games. DMC, Wonderful 101, and of course, Bayonetta. This spiritual successor to DMC takes the thrill and fun of it and rejuvenates it big time. I initially wanted to hold off on this game for a while, but Bayonetta 3's announcement really set the mood for me, so here it is. This game is so much fun to play. I prefer the gameplay of Bayonetta 2 more, but that's not to say the control of this game is guttural. Control and gameplay is obviously the most important aspect of a video game, hence the name, and this game has some pretty good gameplay. It's not entirely perfect, and some of the decision-making was kind of wonky. Witch time is always a set amount of time, so to up the difficulty of future levels, it's often simply removed. Bleh. Having but a second of a breather in an intense game like this is always welcome, so cheers to Bayonetta 2 which fixed that issue, but, we'll get there one day. Disabling "running" until chapter 6 was one of the reasons why I simply played the game on a older save. I played the whole playthrough using Gays of Despair to compensate, so yay. On a side note, this game has some long ass cutscenes, most of which I cut out. This game's cutscenes can be compiled into a two hour movie, to which we're playing a video game, not watching a movie here. Sorry, but if you really wanted to see cutscenes included, well, there's a lot of them, with long times to boot. I'd sooner keep this playthrough at 6 hours 40 mins tops, not 9 hours. Besides, the story's pretty confusing at a glance and only gets more confusing with the sequel. It's good for a laugh anyway; but not really important in this not- movie that we're not watching but instead playing as the video game that it is, plot enthusiasts. They literally made a movie, go watch that for the story, and this for the game. Anyhoo, this game is still amazing to play. So much replayability, so much to unlock, the replay value of this game is immense. There's almost always something to do, always some goal to pine towards, which is great really. Justifying a second, third, fourth, or so on playthrough of the game. There's always an achievement, or something to unlock at The Gates of Hell, something that the game gives you to do, which is good. Either way, smooth fun thrilling gameplay truly makes this game a platintum hit, and if you haven't played it well, you're missing out. This damn thing's been released on five platforms already, and a snazzy trilogy brick will probably be released when 3 comes out.
