Mmm, Paper Mario Color Splash, this game was a kicker when it was first announced. A game that somehow amusingly, like other games, eg Federation Force, got terrible reception at a glance, with mere trailers being enough to get ridiculous fans to bitch and even petition for a game to be canceled. While some games like Federation Force get meh scores that are apparently befitting, Color Splash when people actually got to play it was accepted better than how it was initially perceived. Rightfully so, when it does build upon its heavily influenced predecessor, Sticker Star. This game still has some holes to patch. Finding members of the Toad Squads can be excruciating, and the whole Sticker Battle system while refined, admittedly doesn't flow as smoothly as the turn based battles of previous games where Mario doesn't need an adhesive label to be allowed to do something so simple as to jump on an enemy, which he can do normally in literally any of his regular platforming games, or even the direct combat of Super Paper Mario. These don't make Color Splash a terrible game. "Elitists" will still pine about how this game "pales in comparison to the glory of the oldest games" and how "we want a TTYD remake!" Get over it honestly. If this franchise does continue on, I do hope it's for the better, and in the interest of continuing the series as a whole. Paper Mario is one of my favorite series, and even if the games "continue to deteriorate"... apparently, I just hope it doesn't die off. Like how Crash Bandicoot was killed off by its asshole fanbase that was never satisfied.
