Let's Play Donkey Kong Country Returns - Part 1: The Modernized Monkey
Guess what, guys? I have a capture card now! And that means you can expect some more modern console games to start showing up (mainly Wii, PlayStation 2, and Wii U stuff). And the first game I'm using it for it a worthy one indeed. This is Donkey Kong Country Returns, which, in case you didn't know, is a continuation of the Donkey Kong Country series that had 3 games released on the Super Nintendo in 1994, 1995, and 1996. (This game came out in 2010.) It's different from the SNES games in a lot of ways, but that's okay, because it is an excellent game anyway. In fact, I'd say this game (and its Wii U sequel, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze) are actually better than the original trilogy, and that's saying something.
In any case...we start up the game and play through the first two levels. World 1 has a jungle theme, as you might imagine, and 1-1 is even named the same thing as the first level in the original Donkey Kong Country, Jungle Hijinxs. (And the fact that they spelled "Hijinxs" that way is just as confusing now as it was then.) After that comes 1-2, King of Cling, which introduces surfaces that you can grab onto. The rest of the jungle levels...well, obviously, we'll get to them in good time, no? I'm hoping this will be as fun for you as it is for me!
