Let's Play Dune 2000 #37 | Harkonnen Mission 6a
Well, that didn't take long, didn't it?
Dune 2000 is a real-time strategy video game, developed by Intelligent Games and released by Westwood Studios in 1998. It's a remake of Dune II, Westwood's first strategy game.
The story of the game is similar to Dune II, and is continued in Emperor: Battle for Dune. Once more, the player has to conquer the planet Dune as a commander for House Atreides, Ordos, or Harkonnen.
The game uses a similar game engine to Westwood's Command & Conquer: Red Alert and contains a number of changes, such as the inclusion of engineers, more diverse mission objectives, and a smuggler subfaction.
The game was later released on the original Playstation, featuring hideous 3D graphics but support for the Playstation Mouse peripheral.
The story of Dune 2000 told with full motion video, and the cutscenes take strong visual inspiration from David Lynch's Dune film adaptation - a trend that would be continued in Emperor: Battle for Dune.
