DwarfHeim was a real-time strategy games developed by Norwegian game studio Pineleaf Studios and published by Merge Games. It was originally released on 27 Sep, 2021 for Windows.
For the most part, the game features base building, resource gathering, army management, and hero units in the style of WarCraft 3. However, three role - building, mining, fighting - are split, which a player or AI controlling each one.
The builder builds the base, gathers lumber and food, and purchases economic and structure upgrades. The warrior controls the barracks, and trains and upgrades units. The miner gathers resources such as stone, coal, and iron ore underground, and processes them with a Factorio-style system.
DwarfHeim features multiplayer, skirmish alongside AIs, a survival mode where the player takes all roles, as well as a sandbox mode to try out the game without specific goals.
Pineleaf Studios folded briefly after the game left Steam Early Access, and Merge Games decided to shut down the DwarfHeim's servers on December 1, 2023. With the game requiring an online connection even for singleplayer and Merge Games not having access to the source code to release an offline patch, the game is now defunct.
