With a ranger on our side, the party is as well prepared as they’ll ever be to get through the forest surrounding Myth Drannor. The amount of attacks we can launch at once with the ‘all attack’ button is staggering right now, though we will need to collect up all the arrows that are fired against our foes. It’s little things like that which make ranged combat in this game somewhat awkward, something that could’ve easily been fixed by projectile ammunition being picked up automatically if at least one of that ammo type is in a characters quiver. It’s a minor complaint however and one not unique to this entry in the series.

As for the enemies here in the forest, we’ll be seeing a lot that were later used in Dungeon Hack, a game that I’ve already let’s played. This means that I better know what they’re capable of which will surely save our lives at least once; there were some truly nasty enemies in Dungeon Hack with the ability to inflict powerful status effects that I don’t want to get caught off guard by. This does make the appearance of said opponents in Dungeon Hack less impressive knowing that they originally appeared here, making me wonder just what assets were unique to that game.
