With the tutorial done, it’s time to start the game proper. Your choices begin before you’ve even took a single step with the skills you choose to start out with, a decision that has an impact for longer than you’d expect. All skills have their uses and, provided you have some form of proficiency in combat, you can focus however you wish and still build a character that can complete the game.

This is done by the sheer number of methods you have to achieve objectives and gain information, each one tailored to a certain play style. You can choose to stealthily avoid confrontation, looking for ventilation systems and back ways to bypass groups of foes. You can dispatch everyone you face – non-lethally or otherwise, as is your preference – thus eliminating the need to sneak around places. You can talk to people and glean valuable codes and login information or brute-force your way past locked doors and security with multitools and lockpicks.

How you play is entirely up to you and it can seem overwhelming at the start.
