In this episode, fresh from Cecil's transformation into the knight of light, the Paladin, we arrive back at Mysidia, eager to see the Elder's reaction. He, much like the townsfolk, is astounded, and shares with Cecil a Mysidian prophecy: "One to be born from a dragon, hoisting the light and the dark, arises high up to the still land. Veiling the moon with the light of eternity, it brings another promise to mother Earth with a bounty and mercy." Though the Elder does not know the meaning of the prophecy, he explains that Mysidians spend their entire lives praying for this prophecy, and that he is certain Cecil has become the one wielding the sacred light from the prophecy. Tellah then exclaims that we must get rid of Golbez in a hurry, and reveals to the elder that he has learned Meteor atop Mt. Ordeals. The Elder warns him not to wield such magic with a heart filled with vengeance, but Tellah will hear none of it. The two observe that the other hasn't changed at all, and the final secret is revealed: Palom and Porom accompanied Cecil not only to guide him, but to spy on him as well. Cecil doesn't mind, saying such treatment is well deserved, and with that the children decide to stay with him on the journey to Baron.

Taking the now opened Serpent Road, the party arrives back in town near Castle Baron, and soon overhears talk of a monk who has been chosen to lead the guardsmen. Not only that, but rumor has it that Cid has been arrested for challenging the king's orders. The party heads towards the inn, but not before visiting Cid's wife, who tells them he hasn't been home in awhile, seemingly confirming the rumors. Inside the inn, the party encounters Yang, but before they can ask him what happened to him, the nearby Baronian guards attack. The guards easily fall to Palom and Porom's twin magic, much to the delight of the innkeeper, but the battle isn't over; Yang himself attacks! Sensing him to be under some sort of mind control, the party defeats him without killing him, allowing him to come to his senses. He feels ashamed, but is reassured by Cecil's assertion that the real shame lies with Golbez, and Yang comes to a stunning realization: the Key to Baron was entrusted to him! Using the key, the party can take an aquatic cavern to infiltrate the castle.

Inside the castle things seem eerily quiet, but Baigan appears, and wants to join the party. Palom and Porom's senses prove keener than Cecil's, however, and with the ruse spoiled Baigan reveals his true form and attacks! Unfortunately for Baigan, the party now has Yang with them, and the combined power of all five party members proves too much for him. With nothing between the party and the throne room, we head there to confront the king, who has some choice words for us, and he, too, reveals his true form: Kainazzo, impostor king and Fiend of Water. Using Tellah's powerful lightning magic, the fiend falls, and after the battle Cid appears, filled with outrage at the king's latest commands. The party quickly fills Cid in on what has happened, and he reveals that his latest airship design is hidden inside the castle, away from where even the king could find it. The party excitedly leaves the throne room to board their new ship, but a devious trap has sprung: the doors are locked and the walls are closing in! Without hesitating, the twins sacrifice themselves to save the remaining party by casting Stone, creating two statues that prevent the walls from closing any further. Tellah and Cid vow vengeance for the children, and the party continues toward the secret airship.

As the airship bursts forth from its secret lair, the party is immediately approached by another airship waving a white flag. It's none other than Kain, but what he proposes is devious indeed: exchange Toroia's Crystal of Earth for Rosa. Kain seems impervious to Cecil's attempts to awaken him from the mind control, and boards his monster-helmed airship and flies away. Out of options, the party makes preparations to head to Toroia in the northwest.
